School-family Relations
Results regarding student progress are communicated to families with the four-monthly school report, consigned during the first week of February. Intermediate two-monthly evaluations are programmed with the purpose of pointing out any insufficiencies pupils may have in individual subjects. Regular meetings with families are planned during the scholastic year.
Teaching Methodology
The main aim of the educational methodology at the "Pietro della Valle" Italian School for this year is the recovery of a serene and correct didactic and disciplinary progress; to make the most of every pupil's potential and increase educational success. Each pupil's entry level is ascertained by an entry test in each subject. Progress is subsequently verified through programmed tests, using a diversity of tests but with common and homogenous assessment criteria. The overall assessment is based on levels reached in the following areas:
Knowledge
Ability
Competence
Interest, commitment and participation
Assessment takes into account each student's starting level and individual time and methods of learning.
The school will also evaluate the quality of service offered by monitoring its activities and through questionnaires directed at internal personnel and our clients (parents and students). Normal teaching methodology is supplemented with laboratories and optional subjects, improvement lessons and improvement of study methods (particularly for students coming from other institutions and/or non Italian speakers). Extra-curricula activities are planned. A preparation course for the Cambridge English Certificates exams is being introduced.
